Top Four Shooting Guards

  1. Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat ($7,300) vs. Brooklyn Nets
  2. Klay Thompson, Golden State Warriors ($7,200) vs. Sacramento Kings
  3. Evan Fournier, Orlando Magic ($5,200) vs. New Orleans Pelicans
  4. J.J. Redick, Los Angeles Clippers ($4,800) vs. Washington Wizards

Rationale:

  • The Nets are still dead last in the league vs. opposing 2-guards. Last time I recommended Wade in this scenario he produced 40 fantasy points, so a repeat performance could be on the horizon since the Nets generally play worse on the road.
  • Thompson has scuffled a bit in his past couple of games, but the Kings are third worst vs. SGs over their past 10 games so this could be a bounce back opportunity for the erstwhile Wazzu Cougar. Don’t forget Thompson had a 37-point quarter against them less than a year ago.
  • Fournier has eclipsed the 25 fantasy point plateau in four straight and five out of his last six games. The trend should continue against a Pelicans squad that is second worst overall vs. his position.
  • With or without the injured Bradley Beal, the Washington Wizards have consistently been in the lower third against shooting guards, and Redick is coming off a 32.4 fantasy point night in the team’s first game sans Blake Griffin. In general there are only a handful of Clippers who are capable of stepping up their game to compensate for Griffin’s absence and Redick needs to be one of them.
