Kyle Lowry is enjoying his finest season as a pro in the prime of his career at age 29.
It’s not just the eye-popping anecdotal output he puts forth on a nightly basis, Lowry also ranks 12th in the league in PER, 10th in WS/48, 4th in VORP, and 5th in RPM.
However, we’ve all seen this movie before.
Lowry began last season looking like a top-five point guard, as well, averaging 20.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.7 assists through December last year. But as the season wore on — as a diminutive player who relies on pull-up 3s and getting to the line — the Pitbull from Villanova would lose his legs post-All-Star-break.
Will a slimmer Kyle Lowry allow him to sustain this level of play? Because, as of now, he has been the best guard in the East.
