Oklahoma City Thunder: Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook’s Ranking In Dynamic Duos
3. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant, Oklahoma City Thunder
Both of these players are capable of going off for 40 points on any given night, and have combined for as many as many as 91 points early on this season.
They have earned their stripes in the league together since being selected in back to back drafts, turning into top-five players. If it weren’t for untimely injuries to both players, the Oklahoma City Thunder may have had an NBA championship banner hanging in Chesapeake Arena by now.
The Thunder’s front office has surrounded them with role players who complement their superstar talents well, and they appear to be back to championship contention again now that both players are finally healthy at the same time again.
Through all the criticism the Thunder have taken for the way Westbrook “steals shots” from Durant, these two have proven they can win together. Having two MVP candidates playing for the same team can never be viewed as a bad thing, and having two elite players to give the ball to in crunch time is a problem any coach would dream to have. If both players can remain healthy, they have as good of odds as anyone to make a deep run in the playoffs to the NBA Finals.
