Statistically, Anthony Davis is one of the most impressive players in the NBA. He’s a dominant shot-blocker, a top-10 scorer, a force on the boards, and a burgeoning two-way playmaker with a 3-point shot.

One simply cannot ignore the inconsistency with which he and the 5-16 New Orleans Pelicans have played.

This past week, he mixed out-dueling LeBron James with struggling against the Boston Celtics. He outlasted a four-time MVP in the first game, and was outplayed by Kelly Olynyk in the other.

That simply can’t happen when a player is attempting to lead his team out of the gutter.

The good news for Davis is that his team is getting stronger. Tyreke Evans is back in the lineup, Jrue Holiday is closing in on full strength, and New Orleans is actively seeking out trades to help right the ship.

The better news is that these are individual power rankings, which place quite the emphasis on Davis’ stunning statistics.
