With the New Orleans Pelicans reportedly interested in Markieff Morris, here are the pros and cons of a potential trade.
Markieff Morris‘ tumultuous tenure with the Phoenix Suns could be coming to an end, and the New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly the latest team interested in making that happen. According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports, the Pellies have emerged as another possible trade suitor for the disgruntled Keef.
Earlier this week, ESPN’s Marc Stein reported that the Houston Rockets were interested in acquiring Phoenix’s stretch-4, who was coming off just the second “DNP-CD” of his five-year NBA career.
With Morris failing to live up to expectations so far in 2015-16, Suns head coach Jeff Hornacek benched Morris for the last three games in favor of Jon Leuer, with Mirza Teletovic coming off the bench. Tyson Chandler‘s injury prompted Hornacek to play Keef sparingly off the bench at the 5 in Phoenix’s recent win over the Chicago Bulls, but he was limited to seven minutes.

For the last few months, Suns general manager Ryan McDonough maintained that Phoenix wasn’t looking to trade their disgruntled power forward despite his summer comments about not wanting to be there anymore. Keef completely changed his tune on Media Day, but it very well could’ve been an attempt to raise his trade value back up so the two sides could finally part ways.
Whether Morris saying all the right things was genuine or just putting on a happy face, it seems to have worked, with two reported suitors interested in a player who wouldn’t have gotten Phoenix a bag of peanuts in a trade just a few months ago.
The question is, should the Pelicans be interested? Here’s a look at the pros and cons of a potential deal.
