It appears as though Markieff Morris’ tenure with the Phoenix Suns may be reaching its end.

“I want to be here,” Markieff Morris said on Sept. 28, addressing his offseason comments about wanting to be traded from the Phoenix Suns after the front office dealt away his twin brother Marcus Morris over the summer. Speaking to a full room at Media Day, Keef said all the right things about being glad to be back with his teammates and wanting to help the Suns win games.

The only problem is, Morris hasn’t really been doing that, and with Phoenix desperately searching for answers less than three months later, the report of a potential Keef suitor could mean the sun is setting on his Suns tenure.

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Houston Rockets are interested in trading for the most controversial player on the Suns’ roster, a player who finished with the second most technical fouls in the NBA last season, publicly called out the fan support at home games and is still facing felony aggravated assault charges.

Stein notes that any potential deal would probably have to wait until Dec. 15, when newly inked free agents become available by trade.

None of this indicates that the Suns are interested in moving Keef, but exactly zero people would be surprised to see a deal go down within the next two weeks. Here’s a look at how we suddenly got to this point, how the Rockets fit into the equation and what a potential Markieff Morris trade might look like for the Suns.
