2. The Holy Grail Of Win Streaks

Technically speaking, the Golden State Warriors have won their last 26 regular season games — if you include the four regular season wins they earned leading into the 2015 NBA Playoffs.

Personally, I don’t think win streaks should carry over from season to season, especially since the Dubs lost in the playoffs, but whether you believe Golden State’s current streak is 26 or 22, the longest streak in NBA history is still in play.

The 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers set the NBA’s all-time longest win streak at 33 games, with the Miami Heat coming remarkably close to it in 2012-13 with 27 straight victories. In 2015-16, the Warriors are already one game away from matching the Heat’s streak and only seven games shy of tying the all-time record (five and 11 if you only count this season’s wins).

In order to get to consecutive win No. 34 and set a new record, the Dubs’ toughest competition will probably come from the Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers (on Christmas Day).

Luckily, only five of the Warriors’ next 11 games come on the road, with Golden State hosting tougher teams like Utah and Cleveland during that stretch.

The Dubs still have three games left on their current road trip, and they have two road back-to-backs over their upcoming 11-game stretch. But as long as the Warriors stay healthy, it’s not out of the question that this team can avoid a letdown and set a new all-time win streak.
