NBA Awards Watch, Week 6: Can anyone dethrone the Golden State Warriors?

NBA Awards Watch is back!

Let the record show that I bounced Jahlil Okafor from the top three in the Rookie of the Year watch before an eventful Thanksgiving week that saw him get in a fight outside of a Boston bar. Since then, news continued to break on a myriad of various issues the troubled rookie has gotten into since September, including the use of a fake ID and a massively dangerous speeding case.

Philadelphia 76ers coach Brett Brown has promised to reprimand Okafor, but he struggled nonetheless on Tuesday night against the Los Angeles Lakers and the Kobe Bryant Farewell Tour.

Speaking of which, the Sixers finally snapped their 18-game losing streak, which finally answered the question: will Philadelphia win before Golden State loses? Luke Walton, whose record as interim head coach is technically 0-0, won Western Conference Coach of the Month after surviving against the suffocating Utah Jazz and their defense.

So what will this week’s major storylines be? Can David Blatt finally get some shine for having the Cleveland Cavaliers at the top of the Eastern Conference? Does Draymond Green have a chance at Defensive Player of the Year? That and more in this week’s edition of the Hoops Habit NBA Awards Watch!
