Chalmers was nothing less than spectacular to start his Grizzlies tenure. He had 11 points and four steals in his Nov. 13 debut against the Portland Trail Blazers. Two games later, the one-time feeder of LeBron James dropped 29 points
To be sure, this run was no revelation or sign he could transform the Grizzlies. The Commercial Appeal’s Chris Herrington decided to rain on Grizzlies fans’ parade via Twitter.
Chalmers averaged 14.3 points per game through his first six with the Grizzlies, but scored nine points in his last two contests to slip to 11.9 per game.
Expect more tapering as the 29-year-old point guard settles in as the backup point guard. Indeed, he will have a few moments when he can break out in a spot start as Conley goes through his late-season pains.

Overall, Chalmers will finish the year averaging single digits since he only scored 10 per game twice in his first seven pro seasons. Even if he improves on three-point shooting after making a third of his attempts from that range, he won’t take enough shots to reach that mark.
