4. Milwaukee Bucks

At 6-9, the Milwaukee Bucks are the third worst team in the vastly improved Eastern Conference. They’re one of only four teams with a losing record in the East and coming off a 41-41 season, the addition of Greg Monroe has clearly come with mixed results.

As head coach Jason Kidd showed Wednesday night, the frustration is starting to seep in.

Giannis Antetokounmpo may be on the verge of making the leap at just 20 years old, but the strength of the Bucks last season was their second-ranked defense, which held opponents to 99.3 points per 100 possessions. With Monroe in the middle and no veterans on the perimeter, that defense has plummeted to the NBA’s worst unit, surrendering 109.4 points per 100 possessions.

We’re only 15 games into the season, so it’s far too early to say that the Brandon Knight trade was a mistake…but it sure as hell isn’t looking good with Knight having a career year in Phoenix and Michael Carter-Williams slapping up a meager 11.2 points and 5.0 assists per game on .423/.333/.735 shooting splits.

The Bucks aren’t out of the playoff hunt by any means, but for every encouraging game where they look confident and comfortable, like their double-OT win over the Cleveland Cavaliers or their dominant victory over the Detroit Pistons, there have been multiple no-shows, like a double-digit loss to the Sacramento Kings or a 37-point shellacking at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.
