After 10 games, what grades have John Wall and the rest of the Washington Wizards earned?

The Washington Wizards are off to a 6-4 start throughout their first 10 games of the 2015-16 season. Although it isn’t a terrible record through the first few weeks, they have had a couple of losses (home vs. Knicks, at Boston) that were games they went into as the favorites. Nevertheless, 6-4 is still a respectable record. The Wizards are currently on a three-game winning streak after defeating a good Detroit Pistons team 97-95 in the Motor City Saturday night.

The Wizards’ new uptempo offense has proven to give opponents problems especially with the lightning-fast John Wall leading the fast break. There were concerns throughout the first five games because of the alarming turnover rate, which at one point ranked them dead last in the NBA. But those numbers are improving, and the Wizards are now 22nd with 15.5 per game– still not an ideal number, but the improvement provides optimism that it will continue.

Where the Wizards have been struggling most as a team is on the defensive side of the court. Similar to their turnover ranking, they were last in the league throughout the first week and a half, but now have seen a slight improvement as they are now tied for 25th (105.3 ppg). If they can continue to improve this number, one can expect the wins to keep coming their way. A solid defensive effort each game to go along with their uptempo offense is a recipe for success, they just have to put all the pieces together.

Looking forward, eight out of their next 10 games are against teams with a +.500 record. If they can manage to come away with six or seven wins, it would be a huge accomplishment as the first quarter of the season came to an end.

Here are grades for each player in the starting five thus far.
