Guard Depth

For many teams, an injury to the starting point guard would derail their offense, but thanks to serviceable backups, Michael Carter-Williams‘ ankle sprain has hardly hobbled Milwaukee.

What’s been remarkable is that the Bucks have had a different reserve guard help them each game. In both wins against the Brooklyn Nets, Jerryd Bayless has come up big, for reasons even he cannot comprehend.

When Carter-Williams went down in the first game against Brooklyn, Bayless came in and scored 26 points in a whopping 47 minutes and sank 6-of-10 three-point shots. Then when the teams had a rematch in Milwaukee, he totaled 19 points, including an impressive buzzer-beater.

Meanwhile, Greivis Vasquez is struggling mightily with his shooting, but is still making a positive impact on the Bucks’ offense. When he is on-the-court, Milwaukee’s offense rating is 4.1 points higher then when he is on the bench.
