The Monroe Signing

When center Greg Monroe opted to sign with the Bucks, he choose Milwaukee’s future and young talent over the bright lights of New York and Los Angeles. Through the first two weeks of the season, with the Knicks and Lakers a combined 4-9, his decision appears to be a good one.

Monroe gives the Bucks a versatile big man scorer, who thrives on the block as well as on midrange shots. Through the first seven games of the season, Monroe has made 15-of-26 jump shots. He struggled in the battle with the Robin Lopez‘s Knicks, but averaged 20.3 points on 56.8 percent shooting in the other three games of the winning streak.

Despite minor defensive concerns, Monroe has been a net-positive in his short Bucks career. In fact, when Monroe is on-the-court, Bucks’ opponents offensive rating is 10.9 points lower than when he is on the bench, per Basketball-Reference.
