Will A New Head Coach Unleash The Brow?

Technically speaking, Anthony Davis has already been unleashed. In just his third season in the league, the Brow finished in the top five for MVP voting while averaging a monstrous 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and a league-leading 2.9 blocks per game — not to mention a Herculean 30.8 Player Efficiency Rating.

But with Alvin Gentry replacing Monty Williams as head coach, the New Orleans Pelicans‘ offense and defense are in need of fine-tuning outside of Davis. It’s not that the Pellies are lacking in their personnel either, with talented and versatile players like Tyreke Evans, Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson on the roster.

While it feels unlikely that those three, Omer Asik or Eric Gordon figure to be a part of this team’s long-term plans to contend for a title down the road, that depends entirely on what Gentry is able to coax out of his intriguing roster in a completely new system.
