Boston Celtics Player Profile: Jonas Jerebko
The Boston Celtics re-signed many players during the offseason, and some of those players were not even on the team for the full season last year. The Celtics traded Tayshaun Prince at the end of the trade deadline for Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome.
Jerebko was not really expected to be a big factor for the Celtics last season, but he ended up being a fan favorite and a key contributor off the bench. Jerebko will not be looked at to be a huge scorer for the Celtics next season, but he is a great clubhouse guy and he will find ways to score points off the bench.

Jerebko’s Season Outlook
Jerebko is a 6-foot-10 power forward that can stretch the floor and cover multiple positions. The Celtics have many different froncourt players that add versatility on both ends of the floor, but Jerebko is mostly called upon for his impressive shooting ability.

He can really stroke it from deep, and he shot 40.6 percent from three last season in 29 games for the Celtics. He never started in a game for Boston, but he did average 7.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He made strong contributions for the Celtics off the bench, even though he did not really play in crunch-time.
Jerebko impressed everyone in Boston last season because of his smart and consistent play, and this upcoming season he could be in store to make bigger contributions for the team. A 6-foot-1o power forward that can shoot the basketball from deep is something that many teams are looking for in the NBA, and the Celtics actually have a few of them.
Jerebko, Perry Jones (also a wing), Kelly Olynyk and Amir Johnson are all frontcourt players that can shoot the basketball from deep. Jerebko is the most consistent three-point shooter out of the bunch, which makes him very dangerous.
Jerebko’s Fit With The Celtics
Jerebko can play on the wing and in the frontcourt, which is why he is going to come off the bench a lot for the Celtics. He should play a little bit more than he did last season because he impressed head coach Brad Stevens, but there are many players in the frontcourt that are going to want to play a lot.
Stevens will have to decide whether he likes playing Olynyk more or Jerebko, because their games are quite similar. In no particular order, Johnson, Tyler Zeller and David Lee will play the most froncourt minutes for the Celtics next season, probably followed by Jerebko, Olynyk, and Jared Sullinger.
Overall
People should not forget about Jerebko when they are facing up against the Celtics. He is a lethal three-point shooter and his size makes him tough to cover on the perimeter. He also has great touch around the paint, which makes him tough to defend on the offensive end in general.
He won’t even be close to the Celtics’ leading scorer next season, but he will hit big buckets down the stretch because of his ability to score in a variety of ways. Jerebko could also be great trade bait for teams that need to add shooting and depth to their bench, but the Celtics should hold on to Jerebko for a little while.
