Quick Thoughts

With Aldridge being the best free agent that was actually considering leaving his team this summer, the Spurs hauled in the biggest fish of the offseason. Though Aldridge may have to play out of his preferred position alongside Tim Duncan, he and Kawhi Leonard now represent the promising present and bright future of the franchise.

West’s stunning decision to turn down an extra $10 million to join the Spurs only helps his cause of competing for a championship, with the former Indiana Pacer set to bolster San Antonio’s depth, which took a blow after losing Splitter, Belinelli, CoJo, Baynes and Ayres this summer.

To round out the roster, the Spurs brought in Jimmer Fredette, made an win-win trade for Ray McCallum, brought back Matt Bonner and added some intriguing prospects, like 7’3″ behemoth Boban Marjanovic. San Antonio will also look forward to seeing what Kyle Anderson — a.k.a “Slow Mo” — can do after wrapping up NBA Summer League MVP honors this summer.
