In 2014-15, Green ran down the stretch with the Grizzlies as a high-energy contributor periodically appearing in the rotation. The Grizzlies signed him on Jan. 18 to a 10-day contract a month after the San Antonio Spurs let him go and later decided to keep him for the remainder of the season.

The 6’8″, 228-pound power forward played a total of 24 games last year, including 20 for the Grizzlies. He averaged 2.7 points and two rebounds in seven minutes per game for Memphis. Green took advantage of every significant opportunity he received, dropping double figures in two of the three contests in which he received 10 or more minutes.

On Mar. 12, he scored 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting against the Washington Wizards while starting in place of Zach Randolph.

Green may get the benefit of the doubt due to his partially guaranteed status. Also, his burst of energy makes it hard to resist keeping him. Only one player offers a big challenge to Green’s status with the Grizzlies.
