7. Buzzer-Beaters

Gravity-defying dunks are what Jason Richardson will be known for, even though he was a much more well-rounded player than people realize. Between the three-pointers, efficient scoring, longevity and improved defense as his career went on, J-Rich never got as much credit as he deserved.

But on two separate occasions, Richardson got the attention his play warranted with crunch-time heroics right before the buzzer. His first came with the Warriors in 2006, when he drilled a game-winner against the Dallas Mavericks on the road.

With his team trailing by two, J-Rich streaked down the court at full speed, spun away from a defender, and nailed an insanely difficult lean-in three to give the Dubs the 122-121 win. Richardson scored 40 points in that game.

During his time with the Suns, J-Rich had plenty more opportunities for late-game heroics. Back when Phoenix was still capable of beating the Memphis Grizzlies, an inbounds pass from Grant Hill (who else?) found J-Rich wide open near the basket for a game-tying alley-oop that sent that 2010 matchup to overtime.

Phoenix won the game in double overtime, 123-118. Jason Richardson led the Suns with 38 points and eight rebounds in that game.

Those are the only buzzer-beaters of his career, but it’s worth noting that Richardson was a regular threat on the perimeter in crunch-time.

From dagger three-pointers with the Suns against the San Antonio Spurs to the three he made against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals (right before a missed boxout Suns fans would love to forget), J-Rich was not shy when the pressure was on.
