Honorable Mention: Alex English

Alex English doesn’t get enough respect for how tantalizing a scorer he was. Not only could he put the ball on the floor and attack the basket, but his mid-range game was phenomenal.

With over 25,000 career points on better than 50 percent shooting from the field, English’s versatile scoring attack was unstoppable.

The 1983 scoring champion was the star of the show for the Denver Nuggets, routinely drawing double teams. This forced him to develop an in-between game, which is exactly what he did.

Over any caliber of defender, English could create space and knock down his patented jumper.

English narrowly misses out on this list, but he’s one of the best shooters ever. Failing to expand his range does hurt slightly, but his combination of a post game and mid-range shooting is enough to cover that up.

That will be a theme; players who can shoot out of the post make up for their potential inconsistency from 3-point range.
