25 Greatest Shooters in NBA History
17. Klay Thompson
It’s very early in Klay Thompson’s career, which makes his placement on this list a debatable one. The reality is, Thompson is already on a short list of players who combine his level of efficiency and volume.
Forgive the overuse of these terms, but it’s impossible to deny what he’s doing.
Through four seasons, Thompson has already made 784 3-point field goals—more than all but 125 players in NBA history. He’s made at least 200 3-point field goals in three straight seasons, increasing his total in every single campaign while never dipping below a 40 percent conversion rate.
The list of players with at least three seasons of 200-plus 3-point field goals made: Ray Allen, Stephen Curry and Thompson.
The fact that Thompson is in the conversation with Allen and Curry after just three seasons is very telling. He’s already an all-time sharpshooter who doesn’t just gun without a feel for efficiency.
When it’s all said and done, Curry might not be the Warriors guard who sits at No. 1 on the all-time 3-point field goals list.
