Raptors Rapture
The Raptors didn’t even make an offer to Sixth Man of the Year Lou Williams, letting him walk away to the Los Angeles Lakers, and lost fan-favorite Amir Johnson to the Celtics.
They essentially swapped Greivis Vasquez for Cory Joseph, the Toronto-area native who had been with the San Antonio Spurs for four years and signed with the Raptors as a free agent, with Vasquez traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for the rights to second-round pick Norman Powell and a top-14 protected first-round pick in 2017 that becomes a second-rounder if not conveyed by 2020 and a second-round pick in 2021.
At 35, Luis Scola is much more suited as a reserve than a starter, which leaves Patrick Patterson as the best power forward option, and Bismack Biyombo brings a rim protector for the second unit.
First-round pick Delon Wright, meanwhile, gets to learn behind Lowry and Joseph at the point.
And a Canadian team can’t go wrong with signing a player (Ronald Roberts) who last played for a team called the “Beermen.”
