Kris Dunn, Providence

If you’ve been on board the Kris Dunn hype train, I’m sorry that I haven’t been as vocal as others have this summer. If you’re new to the Kris Dunn hype train, welcome aboard!

Dunn, a 6’4″ junior for the Friars this season, was last year’s Co-Big East Player of the Year with Villanova’s Ryan Arcidiacono, and one of the most electrifying players in the country. It was a short stay in the NCAA tournament as Dunn, LaDontae Henton and the Friars were eliminated by Dayton in the round of 64, but Dunn’s stock was as high as any guard in the college game.

He’s a natural lead guard, averaging 8.8 assists per 40 minutes last season, but he’s as fluid as former Florida star and current Washington Wizards wing Bradley Beal.

Dunn’s a big-time playmaker and a ferocious defender. Two years ago, Dunn’s defensive rating was 102.7. Last year, Dunn’s defensive rating was 94.2. It’s a collective rating, but it shows that Dunn continues to improve and grow (literally with his 6’9″ wingspan).
