Coming off the franchise’s first championship season in 40 years, the Golden State Warriors‘ top offseason priority was keeping a good thing together. After decades of bad teams and disappointment, this organization knows the importance of fielding a winner. It wasn’t that long ago that fans were booing owner Joe Lacob during Chris Mullin‘s jersey retirement, after all.

Thanks to Stephen Curry‘s problems with injuries early in his career, the Warriors lucked into an extremely team-friendly contract with their future MVP, signing him to a four-year, $44 million deal that lasts until the summer of 2017.

Having one of the best players in the league for an average of $11 million a season gives the Dubs incredible flexibility to keep their crew of talented, young players together for both the short-term and the long-term — especially with the NBA’s salary cap set to skyrocket by about $40 million over the next two summers.

After re-signing Draymond Green to another team-friendly five-year, $82 million extension a few weeks ago, the Dubs are reportedly hoping to come to an agreement on extensions for swingman Harrison Barnes and backup center Festus Ezeli:
