Coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils received some tremendous news to kick off September with the announcement that five-star point guard Frank Jackson will play his college ball at Duke.

Jackson, the nation’s No. 4 point guard at No. 13 overall player in 2016, per 247 Sports Composite, didn’t need much time to decide on where the best place for him was following his Aug. 28 official visit. Jackson released the following statement on his commitment to Duke, via Scout.com.

"“It’s every kids dream to play basketball for Coach K and be a Duke Blue Devil.”"

With five national championships and a bevy and former players actively in the NBA, it’s not difficult to understand what highly touted recruits see in the defending champs.

With the addition of Jackson, Duke’s 2016 class now features a five-star floor general and the nation’s top-ranked small forward in Jayson Tatum, with more quite likely to join what is now the No. 1 recruiting class in college basketball.

With regard to how Jackson will fit with the Blue Devils in 2016, the match couldn’t be any more perfect. Duke reeled in one of the nation’s top 2015 floor generals in Derryck Thornton, who doesn’t present the glamour of a one-and-done talent.

While Thornton is more of your tradition facilitator, Jackson could potentially join in alongside him in 2016 – depending on whether or not a breakout season leads to the NBA for Grayson Allen – and provide some added versatility on the wing as an explosive scorer.

At 6’3” and 180 pounds, the athletic Lone Peak (Utah) product provides points from every area of the floor, and in typical Duke fashion, he can absolutely fill it up from the perimeter, in addition to running the show and setting up teammates.

With a roster that will feature Jackson, Tatum and a handful of other elite recruits, Coach K is wasting no time in building a roster capable of a 2017 championship run.
