Hustle Stats

Asking George to do the little things that aren’t particularly noticed in the box scores comes naturally for him. Whether it’s grabbing a key rebound, sprinting back on defense to block a layup in transition, or diving on the floor to keep a possession alive, George will do it all.

In 2013-14, he averaged 6.8 rebounds per game. Now without big men in David West and Roy Hibbert, George will be counted on to improve on that average. As we saw during the USA game in which he sustained an injury, George is always trying to chase down the ball handler in transition to swat his shot into the stands. It’ll be interesting to see whether or not there are as many chase-down block attempts by George this year considering that is how he was injured.

It’s safe to say his aggressiveness on defensive transition won’t change. George is too much of a competitor to take plays off on any side of the floor. Every team who aspires to win a championship needs a guy who does the little things. Just so happens to be for the Pacers, it’s there superstar who does just that.
