Boston Celtics: Does Danny Ainge Deserve Praise For Offseason?
The Boston Celtics were in the middle of plenty of trade talks last season, and the team got rid of two of their best players in the middle of the season, and general manager Danny Ainge was confident in every move. Ainge traded away Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green midseason, and somehow the Celtics got better without two of their best players.
Ainge also made a move at the trade deadline for Isaiah Thomas, who ended up being their leading scorer.

Ainge is one of the most well-known and talked about GMs in the league because he is not afraid to get rid of proven players for potential draft picks. Ainge has been a busy man since he got rid of Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce by trying to rebuild a team with draft picks.

Ainge and the Celtics have found success with their draft picks like Marcus Smart, and the team has used some of their picks to get proven players on their roster.
The Celtics ended up making the playoffs last season with a very different team since Brad Stevens started coaching in Boston, and Ainge has received much praise in the past for his moves, but should he receive praise after his latest offseason moves?
Ainge is very unpredictable
Ainge deserves some praise for his latest offseason moves because he re-signed key players, and he added a great offensive weapon in David Lee, and a high-energy frontcourt player in Amir Johnson. Ainge also had a pretty decent NBA draft by picking up players like R.J. Hunter, Terry Rozier, and Jordan Mickey who could help out immediately for the Celtics next season.
Ainge has created a team with no stars, and a team were most of the players on the team are pretty even. Thomas is probably the best player on the team, but it is not by much because there is no clear star on the roster, which is something Ainge should try and get.
That is the one thing that Ainge has struggled with; trying to attract big name free agents and stars to come to Boston because the team does not have the most appealing names on the roster.
Ainge made all the right moves this offseason to put Boston back into the playoffs for next season, but the team will not compete for an NBA championship anytime soon with their current roster. Ainge knows this, everyone knows this, which is why Ainge has an intriguing season coming up.

The Celtics still have plenty of tradable draft picks, young players, and proven players that can be moved to help make room for some big time players.
Ainge’s future is safe for right now
Ainge has put together a roster of players that can make some noise in the playoffs next season, but the team is still nowhere near being a contender in the East. Ainge still has to make big moves either with his plethora of draft picks or his roster that has plenty of depth at multiple positions.
Ainge has put together a roster that has a lot of depth for next season, so do not be surprised if he makes a big move during the season.
Ainge is always trying to make the team better, which is why he has done a great job in Boston, but time is going to start ticking soon on whether or not he can attract a big-time star.
