The More The Perry-er

The Oklahoma City Thunder were ready to give up on Perry Jones and willing to move him in order to save some luxury tax money. Luckily for the Celtics, Ainge had positioned the team well enough to capitalize on a situation just like this.

By sending a protected 2018 second round pick to OKC, Boston nabbed a young talent in Perry Jones, along with a 2019 second round pick and cash considerations. Jones turns 24 next month, and as we saw at the start of last season, it’s pretty obvious that he has tons of potential.

At 6’11”, Jones has the length and size to play multiple positions. In three of his first four games of the season for the Thunder, Jones put up 32, 20 and 16 points. The prospect of Brad Stevens harnessing his inner talent is a tantalizing one, and even if it doesn’t work out, Boston didn’t really have to give anything up in order to make this gamble.
