April 13 vs. Utah Jazz: A Potential Curtain Call

There are no guarantees in the NBA. And, if you follow the sport closely, you know truly not to be surprised by anything.

For all we know, the Los Angeles Lakers could make the playoffs. Kobe Bryant could announce he plans to play three more years. Anything is possible.

But logic tells us that the Lakers will be very bad, and unfortunately for them, the Western Conference is a gauntlet unlike any other in sports. Their odds of making the playoffs are slim.

Kobe Bryant, he of three-straight season-ending injuries, is nearing the end of his career if he isn’t already there. 2015-16 is the last season remaining on his contract, and many speculate he will hang up his sneakers after the season.

It’s those reasons that make an April date with the Utah Jazz so intriguing; we may just witness the final minutes of a living-legend’s career.

Unlike many season-finales, this will not be one to reflect on the previous 81 games. Instead, we will likely be looking back on the historic career of one of the game’s greatest. The championships, the heart-breaking playoff losses, the individual success, and the shortcomings that were put under the microscope. The scoring-outbursts, the great duels, and of course, the game-winners.

April 13, 2016, could be the last time we see Kobe Bryant in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform. If you aren’t watching, what are you doing?
