On Thursday, the Memphis Grizzlies announced their 2015 preseason schedule which, as all diehard basketball fans know, means that the regular season schedule can’t be far behind.
The Grizzlies preseason will run from October 6 to October 23 and will include seven games in total, three on the road and four at FedExForum.
October 6 vs Houston Rockets @ FedExForum
October 8 vs Maccabi Haifa (Israel) @ FedExForum
October 12 at Cleveland Cavaliers @ Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center
October 16 vs Oklahoma City Thunder @ FedExForum
October 18 vs Minnesota Timberwolves @ FedExForum
October 21 at Atlanta Hawks @ Phillips Arena
October 23 at Orlando Magic @ Amway Center
Of those games, the two that will no doubt jump out at Grizzlies fans are the October 8 matchup against Maccabi Haifa and the October 12 contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers, but for two very different reasons.

The game against Maccabi Haifa should be a rout but will provide an excellent opportunity for members of the roster other than the core group to get some time of the hardwood. Players like Russ Smith and Jarnell Stokes, who are sure to see limited minutes during the regular season, will have a chance to show what they can do and impress all the right people.
The October 12 game against the Cavaliers is special because of where it is going to be played: Ohio State University. It is the school where guard Mike Conley spent his brief college career, and there is sure to be quite a turnout to support the former Buckeye.
Other than that, the Grizzlies will play out the series of meaningless games and look to fine-tune what they need to as they prepare for the 2015-16 season and a planned return to the postseason. The October 16 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder could be interesting as a foreshadowing of what might happen in the playoffs as it’s safe to say neither team is overly fond of the other.
Word is the full NBA schedule will be released next week so look at this as a taste of what’s to come, GrizzNation.
