NCAA Basketball’s Best No. 1 Recruits Since 2005
3. John Wall — Kentucky
During his time in the college coaching ranks, wherever John Calipari is, that school is the point guard factory.
Derrick Rose was Calipari’s first big-time point guard star at Memphis, but when Calipari took the Kentucky job before the 2009-10 season, he brought one of the most dynamic point guards in the last decade for college basketball with him.
Enter John Wall.
(And yeah, I picked this video for the music because The Fast and Furious films are classics.)
Wall was easily the most exciting player in the country during his one season in Lexington, electrifying crowds across the nation on a nightly basis. With the overall speed and quickness Wall possessed, it was almost unfair for him to be on such a loaded Kentucky roster. (Yeah, that year featured Eric Bledsoe, Patrick Patterson and DeMarcus Cousins.)
Even with Calipari’s ridiculous roster, Wall was the catalyst. In 37 games with the Wildcats, Wall averaged 16.6 points, 6.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per contest, while being named to the All-America First Team and SEC Player of the Year.
Next: 2. Greg Oden, 2006
