The Jet Refuels In Houston

Originally, Jason Terry wanted to re-sign with the Rockets. But when he was displeased with their offer, he reportedly considered signing with the New Orleans Pelicans. After that whole dilemma, it appears The Jet will be back in Houston next season after all.

Even with Ty Lawson and Patrick Beverley holding down the point guard position, this is a good move for the Rockets. Houston could’ve re-signed Terry for as much as $2.27 million, which would have triggered the hard cap, but they were able to bring him back on a one-year contract worth the veteran’s minimum.

For a 37-year-old backup, Terry wasn’t worth much more than this, but his return is a welcome one for a suddenly deep Rockets frontcourt. Old man Terry’s best days are behind him, but as he showed in the playoffs last season, he’s capable of taking and making big threes that get the home crowd fired up.
