Re-Signing Omri

Hey, what do you know? The Kings got an A for one of their offseason grades! By re-signing a fan favorite, Sacramento made a move centered in continuity. Even though Omri Casspi doesn’t do anything at an elite level, he’s sort of a jack-of-all-trades who will bring versatility and depth for the bargain price of $6 million over two years.

Last season, Casspi averaged 8.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while shooting 48.9 percent from the floor and 40.2 percent from three-point range. He’s capable of playing multiple positions, he makes smart passes and he cuts well off the ball.

Getting a useful player like Casspi on that kind of hometown discount is, sadly, one of the bright spots of Sacramento’s summer. But at the very least, Kings fans can take some solace in the fact that there’s a decent NBA player who still wants to play for this organization.
