New York Knicks: Grading The Offseason
Signing Seraphin
For a few weeks at the end of free agency, Kevin Seraphin was the best remaining free agent on the market. With another frontcourt-centric move, Jackson bolstered his rotation of big men by signing Seraphin to a one-year contract worth $2.8 million.
Last season with the Washington Wizards, the 25-year-old Seraphin averaged 6.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.6 minutes per game, suiting up for 79 games overall.
It’ll be interesting to see how Seraphin fits in with a suddenly crowded frontcourt that includes Robin Lopez, Derrick Williams, Kyle O’Quinn, rookie Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony, who is really most effective at the 4. However, Seraphin is more of a 5 and a little depth never hurt anyone, provided Jackson and Derek Fisher see eye-to-eye on where minutes should be allocated.
