Re-Signing Lance And Lou

After the Knicks had taken care of their biggest moves of the summer, bringing back their own free agents became the priority. It’s amazing there were even any free agents worth bringing back after the year New York had, but re-signing Lance Thomas and Lou Amundson gives the Knicks enough able bodies, at least.

Thomas (one year, $1.6 million) and Amundson (also one year and $1.6 million) won’t have much on-court value outside of what little playing time they earn, but they bring good work ethic to a team that’s suddenly a bit younger with two new draft additions. Amundson has also been mentioned as a mentor for Porzingis.

Neither one of these signings really move the needle much in either direction. But they’re minuscule contracts in the grand scheme of things, and since Thomas averaged 8.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game for the Knicks last season, these moves earn a passing grade.
