Milwaukee Bucks: Grading The Offseason
Overall
The Bucks very easily could’ve been complacent this summer. They could’ve re-signed Khris Middleton to his mega-deal and called it a day, banking the success of the franchise on internal development and taking a more patient approach.

Behind the Buck Pass
Intead, Milwaukee went out and landed one of the best free agent centers on the market to address an area of need, slightly accelerating the process. Even better, Monroe is still young, provides a go-to scoring option and his defense might even improve within Jason Kidd’s defensive system.
The Bucks still have one of the best young cores in the league, and even after landing Monroe, they’ll still have quite a bit of cap room as the NBA’s salary cap skyrockets over the next few seasons. Considering the Bucks were looking at Tyson Chandler and Robin Lopez to fill the center void, landing the 25-year-old Monroe is a coup for a small market team.
There are some concerns about depth and experience with the departures of Ilyasova, Dudley and Pachulia, but the Bucks will be getting a few players back from injuries and should be feeling plenty excited about what they were able to accomplish in the middle of a long-term improvement process.
