The Undrafted Surprise: Alan Williams (Houston Rockets)

More from NBA Summer League

Former UC Santa Barbara big man Alan Williams takes home the most surprising performance superlative after producing stellar numbers with the Houston Rockets at the Las Vegas Summer League. In four games, the rookie averaged a stellar line of 20.5 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2 assists on his way to leading the entire Summer League field in rebounds.

For most of the draft season, Williams flew under the radar and was expected to be a late second round pick at the most, according to DraftExpress. His main strengths in college were his rebounding and finishing ability, but he was considered undersized, a raw shooter and a limited athlete.

Despite being overlooked on draft night, Williams shined in a big way in Las Vegas. His stats speak for themselves, but as far as the eye test goes, the rookie big man showed a tremendous presence on the glass and showed a variety of post moves, including an effective hook shot.

Williams also showed fantastic efficiency while posting an absurd 34.8 player efficiency rating (PER) and grabbing over 20 percent of available rebounds, according to RealGM.

The rookie big man is yet to sign with a team for training camp, but expect some team to take a flier on him after an impressive Summer League performance
