According to Real GM, the Detroit Pistons traded Quincy Miller to the Brooklyn Nets for Steve Blake. Miller was a late-season D-League call-up last season for Detroit, and is expected to be waived by the Nets. But according to Terry Foster of The Detroit News, Miller may not be the only one in danger of losing his NBA job.

He expects Blake and former second-round pick Spencer Dinwiddie to battle it out for a roster spot during training camp. The 35-year-old Blake averaged 4.3 points and 3.6 assists last season, while backing up Damian Lillard for the Trail Blazers.

Should Blake make the team, he will bring some shooting touch to the Pistons as he shot just better than 37 percent from 3-point range last season. This number looks even better when you compare to the other Pistons point guards–Dinwiddie, Brandon Jennings and Reggie Jackson–who shot just less than 32 percent from above the arc as group last season for the Pistons.

Considering that the Pistons already have three other point guards (Dinwiddie, Jackson and Jennings), Blake may play some shooting guard. He has experience doing this as he played off the ball in the Blazers fourth-most used lineup.

Another possibility is that Blake may be an insurance policy at point guard for the Pistons as Jennings is recovering from a season ending achilles injury.

Blake is a highly respected player and should bring toughness to the Pistons locker room that lacked veteran leadership last season. Blake is known winner as in each of his last five seasons his team has made the playoffs.
