Terrence Ross

For the Raptors’ fan base, Terrence Ross is a bit of a polarizing subject. Many think that Ross’ play is indicative of him being a bust, while others feel as though he still needs time to mature and grow. He struggled mightily last season, and looked out of sorts at times. When the Raptors needed him to step up, he was unable to do so, which incurred the ire of fans.

Now that Carroll is going to play the starting small forward spot, it is likely that DeRozan will be pushed back into the shooting guard position, with Ross going to the bench. The Raptors lost sixth man Lou Williams during free agency, so Ross will presumably fill that role.

Perhaps going up against teams’ second units will be better for the growing Ross, and will fill him with more confidence as he grows.

Heading into his fourth year in the league, time is soon running out for Ross. The Raptors will have the choice of extending his contract, and a poor showing in his contract season will hurt his leverage if the Raptors allow him to enter restricted free agency.
