Charlotte Hornets: Examining Frank Kaminsky’s Fit & Future
By Nathan Giese
The Future Outlook:
The NBA landscape can change at the drop of a hat. Just look at the DeAndre Jordan fiasco to realize that. One thing seems to be lasting, though, and that’s the need for a big man who can also shoot. It began with Dirk Nowitzki and now has become a huge necessity.

Kaminsky adds that sort of value to a team. He can shoot, has a good handle and solid footwork in the post. He’s a versatile offensive player, one that could have a long career in the NBA. Charlotte doesn’t really have a general guideline for where they’re going in the future, so it makes it a bit harder to predict whether Frank The Tank is destined to be a Hornet for his entire career or not.
In the East, there’s no telling who will make the playoffs and what kind of record will get them there. Charlotte has a solid roster makeup right now and if they can advance their offense to a higher stage than last season, then they’ll certainly be in contention late in the season.
Offense is what made him a top 10 pick, it’s his defense that will determine whether the pick is justified or not. Not an awful defender, but one who needs to increase his speed and quickness in order to balance his size with his skill.
Kaminsky’s an interesting pick, to say the least. He fits the modern day NBA offensive game perfectly and can have a very successful career. Probably not a star, but someone who can change a game, provide an offensive spark and be called upon for a needed bucket.
Beyond that, we’ll have to see. Much of Frank The Tank’s future rests in the hands of Michael Jordan. Something that used to be a great thing to hear, but now has much uncertainty surrounding it.
