Summer League is right around the corner and the Washington Wizards are loading up with young players to hopefully get an invite to training camp.

The team will be headlined, of course, by their first-round pick in this year’s draft, Kelly Oubre Jr. Summer League will be a great stage for Oubre to display what he will have to offer the Wizards in the upcoming season The Wizards know he is extremely raw, so warming up in Summer League will be a great way for Oubre to get a feel for playing in their style of offense.

Wizards’ fans everywhere are ecstatic about watching Oubre grow and become a key contributor to the team.

The Wizards’ second-round pick, Aaron White, will also be participating in Summer League. These games will be crucial for White for two reasons–one, to convince the Wizards that he deserves a contract at some point and two, for himself.

White’s agent, Chris Emens stated in an interview with The Washington Post’s Jorge Castillo that he would wait and see how Summer League and camps go before deciding whether or not he will go overseas for possibly a few seasons before coming back and joining the official roster.

White is a prototypical stretch 4 that the Wizards so desperately need, so if he can convince the Wizards he is ready this year, it’ll work out both for him being able to play in the NBA, and work out for the Wizards salary-wise.

Besides the draft picks playing, the Wizards were able to bring in some more players who have a chance at making the official roster. The most-talked about player would have to be the undrafted guard out of Maryland, Dez Wells. Wells is a 6’4″ combo guard that could very well see a camp invite come his way if he can prove to play some point guard in Summer League.

He has an NBA-ready body that allows him to finish at the rim through contact. Even though Ramon Sessions is still under contract until the end of next season, the Wizards have shown that they are not turning down potential players to come in and compete for that job.

Another player who will be familiar to fans is Rodrigue Beaubois. Beaubois played four season with the Dallas Mavericks before spending the last couple of seasons overseas. He is another option for the Wizards to look at to come off the bench and provide energy and scoring.

Other players on the team include former Wisconsin point guard Traveon Jackson. Jackson sat out for most of the season last year, but returned during the NCAA tournament to help the Badgers advance to the title game. Toure’ Murry will also be suiting up for the Wizards once again.

Murry earned a couple of 10-day contracts towards the end of last year’s regular season but after injuring his ankle, the Wizards waived him and signed Will Bynum. Damion James played in the preseason with the team last year before being cut as he and Rasual Butler battled for the last spot on the roster.

Murry and James both know the Wizards scheme, which should make them more comfortable this time around.

Here is the official list of players that were invited to Summer League camp. Note, this list will be cut down before the Las Vegas Summer League starts:
