1. Paul Pierce

Pierce came to Washington and did what he has done his whole career, perform in the playoffs. The Wizards needed a guy like Pierce to come in and guide the young team while also sparking a fire under them entering the playoffs. Because of Pierce’s comments about the Raptors before their opening series, it created more confidence in the Wizards and it showed as they completed their first sweep in franchise history.

Pierce helped tremendously with the development of Otto Porter, which was evident in the opening playoff series. Pierce was also very effective in playing the stretch four against the Raptors and Hawks. Of course at 38-years old, Pierce isn’t the long term answer, but for now, he is the most valuable free agent for the Wizards on and off the court.
