Brooklyn has deals with Brook Lopez, Thaddeus Young

The Brooklyn Nets have agreed to deals to retain All-Star center Brook Lopez and power forward Thaddeus Young.

Lopez will reportedly get a three-year, $60 million contract—a maximum deal—that will include some provisions to protect the Nets against a recurrence of problems with Lopez’s foot, which has cost him most of two seasons already.

Yahoo Sports reported the deals were close to being finalized, citing league sources, and later reported via Twitter that the agreements had been reached:

Young, acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves at the trade deadline in February, has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $50 million deal.

Lopez, who averaged 17.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game last season, declined his $16.7 million player option for next season to become a free agent. He was the 10th overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Nets, who were then in New Jersey.

Young averaged 13.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 28 games with Brooklyn after the trade after spending his first seven NBA seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, who made him the 12th overall pick in 2007.

Young exercised an early termination option in his contract to void the final year and $10.2 million of the deal.

Both deals have a player option for the final year.
