Al-Farouq Aminu Agrees To Deal With Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $30 million contract with unrestricted free agent Al-Farouq Aminu, making Aminu the first free agent to change teams during the negotiating period.

Yahoo Sports reported the agreement between the Blazers and Aminu.

Portland was in the market for a small forward to replace Nicolas Batum, traded to the Charlotte Hornets before the NBA Draft last week.

Aminu averaged 5.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 74 games last season, mostly as a reserve, for the Dallas Mavericks. But he had a big playoff series against the Houston Rockets, starting two of the five games and averaging 11.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, two steals and 1.6 blocks while going 7-for-11 from 3-point range.

Aminu was the eighth overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers and later spent three seasons with the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans after being moved as part of the trade that sent Chris Paul to L.A.

He signed a two-year deal with Dallas last summer, but opted out of the second year, which would have paid him a shade more than $1.1 million.

Good bet.
