New Orleans Pelicans agree to extension with Anthony Davis
The New Orleans Pelicans assured themselves having one of the NBA’s rising superstars for the next several years, agreeing to a maximum extension with All-Star Anthony Davis that will keep him in the Big Easy through the 2020-21 season.
Davis has agreed to a five-year, $145 million extension, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. The new deal will take effect when his rookie deal expires after next season.
Davis, just 22, completed his third season in New Orleans, who took him first overall out of Kentucky in the 2012 NBA Draft.
He averaged 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game while leading the Pelicans to their first playoff berth since 2011, finishing fifth in the MVP voting in the process.
