Los Angeles Lakers Had “Big-Time Interest” In DeMarre Carroll At One Point

DeMarre Carroll has made himself into one of the best small forwards in the NBA, and the Lakers have taken notice. The team reportedly has “big-time interest” in the Hawks forward.

Carroll is a great fit for many reasons. He hit three-pointers at a nearly 40 percent clip last season (39.5 percent) and is a tough defender. Carroll also proved he could contribute in the scoring department when needed during the Atlanta Hawks’ Eastern Conference Finals run.

It’s important to remember that Carroll is a role player, though. That comes in handy when deciding whether to enter the bidding for his services, especially when the price might be $15 million per-year.

The Lakers simply cannot afford to invest that amount in a complimentary piece that turns 29 in late July.

Carroll made himself a boat load of money over the past season. He transformed himself into an extremely useful player after being tossed on the scrap heap early in his NBA career. He will rightfully get his shot at a massive contract for the first time by reshaping his game and playing at a high level.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, he may have played himself right out of their price range.
