Dwyane Wade, Los Angeles Lakers Have “Mutual Interest”; Even If It Doesn’t Make Any Sense

One signing that would absolutely obliterate Twitter? Dwyane Wade joining Kobe Bryant on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Even if Kobe is a broke down, shell of his former self, and Wade is now merely a part-time superstar, pairing two of the greatest players of all-time in the bright lights of Los Angeles would be the most interesting move of the summer. The idea isn’t completely unfounded, either.

This all stems from Wade feeling like Miami should pay him after years of sacrifice so the team could add more pieces to the roster. In other words, Wade is demanding the contract that Kobe was offered in 2013.

From the Lakers’ point of view, signing Wade makes very little sense. He’s old, beginning to truly break down, and will command more money than he’s worth to a rebuilding team. 50 games of star-level D-Wade just doesn’t do much for a team with so much growing to do.

Agent posturing is going to be a common theme for players linked to the Lakers, and this case is really no different.

If the Lakers are truly interested, this seems like the last resort if all other free agents turn down the team’s gobs of cash. The Lakers must spend their cap room this off-season, or they’ll lose their significant financial advantage when the cap rises. Wade might just be the “last girl at the bar” type of move they make.
