DeAndre Jordan To Meet With Los Angeles Lakers; Might Be The Best Fit Available

On July 1, the Lakers will get a chance to pitch DeAndre Jordan on why he should change locker rooms at Staples Center.

Of all the free agents available, Jordan may be the perfect fit for the young Lakers.

As a true center, he easily slides into the Lakers lineup at his natural position. The same cannot be said for the other top free agent bigs the team is considering.

Offensively, the addition of D’Angelo Russell should be appealing for Jordan. He wants to be a bigger part of a team’s offensive attack, but still needs a guard to get him the rock. Chemistry will obviously need to be built, but Russell’s passing ability could make Jordan very happy.

Plus, the Lakers would get “Hack-A-Shaq” to return to its rightful home.

On defense, Jordan would be the first cog to piece together a working unit. His rim protection is a bit overstated, but having an athletic force to clean up a few mistakes with a rejection or two would be a welcome change.

There is a case to be made that the Lakers should make DeAndre Jordan priority number one. He fits their biggest need, and would begin to rebuild the rubble that was last year’s defense. Even if they are considered a “long shot”, Jordan just makes the most sense.

We will find out if the Lakers agree when free agency opens July 1.
