Greg Monroe Will Meet With Los Angeles Lakers

Do you sense a trend yet? Per RealGM yet again, the Lakers have intentions of meeting with Greg Monroe of the Detroit Pistons:

"Greg Monroe said five teams have shown strong interest as he enters free agency. Monroe said he will meet this week with the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers."

The exact date of a potential meeting is unknown as of this writing. It appears that any get together with Monroe would come after the Lakers meet with LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan.

Monroe is a talented player, but the fit with the Lakers is questionable. He would likely play center in Los Angeles even though he’s not much of a rim protector, potentially piling on to what already projects to be a horrendous defensive team.

From the sounds of it, the Lakers will be so busy with Aldridge and Jordan that Monroe just might pass them by. The New York Knicks, another team scheduled to meet with the big guy, are considered the frontrunners for Monroe’s services.

Greg Monroe is probably the Lakers’ Plan D or E when it comes to free agent big men, but he is worth keeping an eye on because he is one free agent that is practically guaranteed to move.
