1. Get healthy

I really feel sorry for the Hawks.

Thabo Sefolosha broke his leg and missed the playoffs. Paul Millsap sprained his shoulder. Kyle Korver sprained his ankle. DeMarre Carroll hyper-extended his knee. Al Horford disloacted a finger. Jeff Teague also messed up his ankle.

That was the Hawks late season injury firestorm that destroyed any chance they had against the Cavaliers. A simple summer to get healthy and reload with a roster that hopefully doesn’t crack is what Atlanta needs most. These injuries destroyed their rotation and the cohesion that they rely on to keep their system working.

The good news is that these injuries don’t appear to carry into next season.  According to RealGM, Sefolosha should be ready to go at the start of next season. Korver should also be ready to come back.

This healthy Hawks team is far more like the one we saw own the East for much of the regular season. if they can open some cap space, add a rebounder, re-sign their important guys, and lick their wounds, they should be good to go for next season. Hopefully this time, they’ll be able to see it through.
