4. New Orleans Pelicans

There is no frontcourt combination that would be more terrifying for the foreseeable future than pairing DeMarcus Cousins with Anthony Davis on the New Orleans Pelicans. Forget any spacing issues, forget any attitude issues with Boogie, forget the stupid, inevitable “who takes the last shot?” questions. That frontcourt tandem would devour galaxies together.

Even better, the Pelicans have the sort of overrated assets to offer that Karl and Ranadive might view as the “established veterans” they’re looking for. With Jrue Holiday, Tyreke Evans and Ryan Anderson serving as potential options, the Pelicans would probably have to throw in multiple future draft picks to sweeten the deal.

But the Kings might not balk at such an offer from New Orleans. They don’t want just future draft picks, otherwise they’d probably be talking to the Boston Celtics. But Holiday would be a vast upgrade at point guard, while a trade for Evans would bring home an old fan favorite who never got his chance to shine playing in the wrong situation with underwhelming teammates.

Maybe we’re dreaming here, but New Orleans has some decent assets to put on the table and although they’d need some serious help rounding out the roster after a deal like this, their frontcourt would be nigh unstoppable on both ends of the floor.
